In 2018, the Davidson Police Department began a School Resource Officer (SRO) Program in partnership with the Community School of Davidson. SRO K. Boone was certified in August 2018 and works on the school's two campuses in Davidson. Under Officer Boone’s leadership, the program has expanded to include mentors from town staff for students and a benefit scholarship basketball game. The Officer Mark Swaney Benefit Basketball Game with high school student athletes vs. police officers is a fun event that raises money for graduating senior scholarships.
In 2020, the Davidson Police Department began a School Resource Officer (SRO) Program in partnership with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) at the Davidson K-8 campus. SRO M. Prather began his career in 2006 and is a certified SRO and DARE instructor. Officer Prather will join Officer Boone in providing community programs during the summer months.
