Partner Projects

The Town of Davidson often works with partner agencies on several large scale projects within our jurisdiction. Some partners include Mecklenburg County, Charlotte Water, State of North Carolina Department of Transportation, and more.

As part of the Davidson South Street Wastewater Improvement Project, Charlotte Water and its contractor, Propst Construction, is closing a portion of South Street beginning Monday, June 27th. 

Spring Street, Old Canal Street and Main Street will be available as detour routes for northbound and southbound travelers on South Street. Signage will be in place to show drivers the route. 

This closure is expected to be in place until late August.

As of 07/22/2022, work has started on South Street. There will be lane and road closures at McEver Field and Davidson K8 for the next 6 weeks.

As of 09/06/2022, work is progressing, and Charlotte Water expects to be north of Spring St/Woodland St by August 29th. By the end of September, the town will  be coordinating with Charlotte Water, their contractor, and the Davidson Lands Conservancy for the Run for Green event on October 1 which uses the South St route. 

As of 09/09/2022, the town had met with Charlotte Water, their contractor Propst Construction, and the Davidson Lands Conservancy to plan for the Run for the Green event. A plan was developed to manage runner safety on South Street.
