ReadDavidson Selects its 2017 Book:
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
ReadDavidson announces Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel as its 2017 selection. “An audacious, darkly glittering novel set in the eerie days of civilization's collapse, Station Eleven tells the spellbinding story of a Hollywood star, his would-be savior, and a nomadic group of actors roaming the scattered outposts of the Great Lakes region, risking everything for art and humanity.”
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, ReadDavidson is excited to be joining the April is for Arts initiative. ReadDavidson events will be scheduled in April, and also in May when a new arts opportunity begins -- Shakespeare on the Green (mark your calendar now for May 12-14, 2017).
Please “stay tuned” for specific information regarding event dates and program details. For now…everyone get reading!
"The staff at Main Street Books are excited that citizens voted to read Station Eleven this year,” said owner Adah Fitzgerald. “It's a wonderfully written and thrilling homage to the arts, which makes it a great pick for our first year joining April is for Arts."
ReadDavidson, an annual town-wide reading initiative that started in 2007, is a partnership between the Town of Davidson, the Davidson Public Library, Main Street Books, and several local avid readers. The ReadDavidson committee encourages people to read a selected book and attend fun and educational book-related events that make the book come to life.
The ReadDavidson initiative would not be possible without the support of the following sponsors: Main Street Books, Davidson Public Library, PostNet, DavidsonLearns, and the Town of Davidson.
