Davidson Fire Department Names Bo Fitzgerald New Fire Chief
The Town of Davidson is pleased to announce that Reuben (Bo) Fitzgerald will serve the Davidson Fire Department (DFD) as Fire Chief. He replaces outgoing chief Darin McIntosh.
Bo has a bachelor’s degree in history from Davidson College and a master’s degree in public administration from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He has over 20 years of service and experience with the Davidson Fire Department, including serving as volunteer chief from 2006 to 2009. He has over 16 years of experience as a professional firefighter with the City of Charlotte.
“This is the first time we’ve hired a fire chief as a department head,” said Town Manager Leamon Brice. “We are lucky to have someone who has served the fire department as a volunteer fire fighter and fire chief, knows our history, and has the ability to lead us into the future.”
In this role, Bo’s priorities will be to more efficiently manage emergency response, especially to the eastern part of Davidson; create a long-term solution for fire department facilities; maintain the fire department’s strong relationship with the community; foster a unified team environment with the fire department staff; and develop close working relationships with the mayor, board of commissioners, and town staff.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to once again serve the Town of Davidson in the role of Fire Chief,” said Fitzgerald. “I am blessed with an experienced and knowledgeable supporting cast, and I look forward to working with them, other town staff members, and the town administration to ensure that the citizens of Davidson receive the highest quality emergency services possible.”
Bo, his wife Adah, and their two children live in Mooresville. Adah is one of the new owners of Main Street Books. In his spare time, Bo enjoys running and fishing.
