Project Status
August 2023: Construction drawings were approved by the Town and Mecklenburg County. A pre-construction meeting will be scheduled prior to site work beginning. Building elevations were approved by the Design Review Board in July 2023.
Summer 2023: Construction drawings are currently under review. Additionally, building elevations are currently under review by the Design Review Board (DRB). Check DRB agendas for the most recent elevations.
January 2023: The Master Plan was approved by both the Town and Mecklenburg County. The next step is to submit for Preliminary Plat (construction drawings).
September 13, 2022 - Statement regarding Davidson Acquisition Company, et. al. v. Town of Davidson
An agreement was executed and consent order staying litigation filed with the courts in the matter of Davidson Acquisition Company, et. al. v. Town of Davidson.
Both parties have signed an agreement that clearly outlines the next steps the developer, Crescent Communities, LLC, must take in order to move the Potts Development project forward.
The town believes this agreement offers a path forward that will still require the project to meet the high standards of the Davidson Planning Ordinance and all other applicable regulations but will also allow for a timely solution. The town believes this agreement to be in the best interest of the town.

- January 2023: Crescent's Master Plan was approved by both the Town and Mecklenburg County.
- November 2022: Mecklenburg County had unresolved issues with this submittal requiring a Cycle 2 submittal and review.
- October 2022: Crescent resubmitted a Master Plan application and required documents per the agreement referenced below.
- September 2022: An agreement was executed and consent order staying litigation filed with the courts in the matter of Davidson Acquisition Company, et. al. v. Town of Davidson. - April 2020: On April 17, 2020 Town of Davidson staff denied the master plan application due to outstanding issues.
- Fall 2019 - Spring 2020: The project team submitted multiple sets of revised documents from October to March. Mecklenburg County and Town of Davidson staff reviewed the documents and noted outstanding issues.
- April 2019: The court ordered that town fulfill the project’s outstanding process requirements as soon as possible. This included receiving comments from the Planning Board (Monday, April 29, 2019) and holding a Public Input Session (Thursday, May 2, 2019).
- Fall 2018: A lawsuit was filed by Davidson Acquisition Company, LLC and Crescent Communities, LLC in October 2018.
- August 2018: The Davidson Board of Commissioners denied approval of sewer extension to the proposal.
- Winter 2017: Summer 2018: Various site plans and revisions were undertaken by the project team in response to Town of Davidson and Mecklenburg County review comments.
- Summer - Fall 2017: Transportation Impact Analysis conducted and report produced.
- May 2017: Master Plan application submitted to Town of Davidson, Mecklenburg County.
