Small Business Support Benefits
It pays to support our small businesses:
- Local businesses return 68 cents of every dollar to the community whereas chains return 43 cents.
- Local businesses reinvest 85% locally whereas chains reinvest 25% locally.
We encourage consumers living outside of Davidson to spend their money here as well, but this campaign specifically focuses on Davidson’s population and how we can create a sustainable local economy by patronizing our retail establishments, restaurants, and service-oriented businesses. So instead of driving to our neighboring towns to make purchases, we’d like everyone to turn around and shop in town!

You’ll see Turn Around Shop in Town window clings in all participating businesses. We’ve distributed Turn Around Shop in Town car magnets. If we see the magnet on a shopper’s car while parked in town, they are eligible to win a prize.
This initiative benefits our businesses and citizens in a fun, yet tangible way,” said Economic Development Director Kim Fleming. “Our hope is that Davidson citizens will recognize that where they shop makes a difference to our local economy.”
Small Business Saturday
We encourage citizens to shop in Davidson on Small Business Saturday which is typically held the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
