Engine 1Engine 1

Engine 1 is a 2018 Smeal engine. It carries 500 gallons of water and has a 2000 GPM pump. Engine 1 responds from station 1 and is the first engine out for the western half Davidson. Engine 1 carries a variety of firefighting and rescue equipment including ground ladders, hoses, saws, medical equipment, and a set of hydraulic rescue tools.

Engine 3Engine 3

Engine 2 is a 2007 Pierce Quantum Pumper-Tanker. It has a pump size of 1,500 gallons per minute and a water tank size of 1,000 gallons. This unit can function as a primary pumper and a water tanker. It carries additional water that is used on fires on the interstate, highway, and other areas without hydrants within our jurisdiction. In addition to the additional water carrying capacity, the Engine 3 unit has a dedicated firefighting foam tank and proportioning system for use on flammable liquid fire emergencies.

Tower 1Fire Department Smeal aerial tower

Tower 1 is a 2022 Smeal aerial tower. It carries 300 gallons of water and has a 2000 GPM pump. Tower 1 responds from station 1. The ladder is 100’ with a 4 person “bucket” and capable of flowing 1500 GPM of water. The Tower carries a variety of fire and rescue equipment including ground ladders, hoses, saws, medical equipment, rope rescue, and a set of hydraulic rescue tools.

TankUS Tanker used by Davidson Fire Departmenter 1

Tanker 1 is a 2018 U.S. Tanker. It carries 2000 gallons of water, 100 gallons of firefighting foam and has a 1250 GPM pump. Tanker 1 responds from fire station 1. Tanker 1’s role is to supply water to the areas that do not have hydrants. Tanker 1 carries 2- 3000 gallon drop tanks to use during tanker shuttle and drafting operations along with firefighting equipment.

Fire Department QRV PolarisQRV 1

Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) 1 is a 2013 Polaris Ranger with a pump capacity of 100 gallons per minute and a water tank size of 50 gallons. It is designed to be taken off-road for emergencies in remote locations. It features a 4-wheel-drive design with a retrofitted firefighting skid unit.

In addition to firefighting capabilities in unpaved/woodland areas, this unit also has an area on the back for securing a victim  for removal from areas that a conventional vehicle cannot reach. This unit has proven useful in areas in our district such as Fisher Farm Park.

QRV 2Polaris ATV used by Davidson Fire Department

QRV 2 is a 2017 Polaris four-seater ATV which responds from Station 1 and is used for emergencies that are off the road on the greenways, walking, hiking, and biking trails or 
anywhere that the larger fire apparatus can’t access.

Davidson Fire Department Marine 1Marine 1

Marine 1 is a Zumro 19’ inflatable rescue boat with a hard bottom design and dive door flap. It has a Mercury 40 horsepower outboard marine engine.This unit serves the purpose of water-based rescue operations primarily on Lake Davidson and Lake Cornelius. It is lightweight and easily launched in shallow water applications.

The Lake Norman portion of our district is typically handled by the larger emergency boats from neighboring departments.
